We have been really busy the past few months. We did a few shows which where successful and had a fantastic training weekend in May (seems a long time ago now!). Holidays in Wales, Llandudno, that was ace. More shows and some training.
We meet some new Schnauzer friends, mainly Giants but we Minis are a big dog in a small package anyway!
The big news is that in November we hopefully will be joined by another human in the house. Mum is having a baby. I don't think they call it being in whelp for humans :)) but we are all looking forward to the event.
Enzo has decided to give his career a boost and go on a foreign holiday. He is currently enjoying a stay in Germany with the the lovely Uschi and her girls from the " vom Mephistopheles" kennel. I hope he knows how to behave himself in female company!
I am enjoying being the only dog in the house. Just hoping that those cats don't get too adventurous with the big guy not being at home!

A quick post to summarise the last few months .

At last, I have to mention the passing of our friend Archie. He was a true Giant and such a gentleman. We will miss him terrible on our next walk!

Born on the 20.03.1998 Edda von Muehlbach joined the Baumann family at the age of 14 weeks. They picked her up from a breeder 3 hours away from home. They got to the breeder and there was 3 female puppies left. Emmi was the first one that came running straight at me. Already a big puppy and set in her ways she certainly made herself well known. The first thing she had to do on the way home was eat poo.
A challenge to train she finally reached the obedient stage at the age of 3 1/2. The where a few attempts before the girl passed her BH. But once she got to this stage she was a pleasure to take out for a walk. Never far from its owners and listening almost everytime. The most memorable habit certainly was her stubbornness. She would always let you know when she wouldn't want to do or eat something.
She wasn't a great show dog but a loving and fantastic mother to all her children.
On the 24.04.2010 she went to sleep forever. After being very ill for a few days she had this look in her eyes telling that she is ready to go.
Run free Emmi, no more pain. Be nice to fatty Miro at the rainbow bridge, no chasing. One day we will meet again. I know you be waiting just there for your owners to come and take you with them!
You are sadly missed and always loved and remembered!

Where did time go??

Wow we are already in April. Where did the last two months go??
Schnauzer of the Year Competition, Enzo did very well. He worked his way through all the way into the final two Giants. Well done big boy and many thanks to judge Mary Paisley.
Crufts came and went. We did quite well, a 2nd in our class is not too bad. Dad Gino did very well, Best Dog and BOB. A biig belated well done to Mike and Gino for such an achievement.
The following show was the SCGB 80th anniversary Championship Show. Enzos first time in Open Dog, shown by the lovely Hannah who has done a fantastic job. 2nd place and RCC with Enzo and the same with her female Paris. Well done Hannah and thanks so much for showing Enzo.

In April it was back to the training grounds. Enzo's training is doing well. We are now working towards an VPG1. A dream far far away, but if we dont put the work in and try we will never achieve it either. We will get as far as we can get so who knows.

Last weekend we spend a lovely weekend in Llandudno, Wales. The Clontarf Hotel is certainly a place to recommend. Great service, friendly atmosphere in a location to dream off. Beach is within walking distance and dog friendly. The muts loved it.
And to make sure that the welsh know what a Giant Schnauzer is there was 11 of them on the beach. It was nice to meet so many well behaved Giants in one place!
We are back in June, roll on sunny summer!

Oh No not more Snow!

All seems to be preparing for Schnauzer of the Year and Crufts. Enzo had a practise run this weekend at Ashton under Lyne Open Show in Manchester.
Steffi didnt get Enzo ready for Saturday (Nation Working& Pastoral breeds Open Show) even tho she had entered him but she did get him ready for Sunday. He was looking good and did well, becoming Best of Breed.
The day started off a little white. Steffi looked out the window and shouted "for f***s sake" and Dan nearly fell out of bed. All white and 10 cm of snow on the roads! The question was to go or not to go!
Well in the end they went and Enzo did very very well! By the time they got to go home most of the snow had already disappeared.

I had a lazy day on the sofa playing with my new mate Mojo. He is becoming more and more a pain in the arse and is not afraid of pinching dog food! Mum got some chicken frames from the butchers the other day and left the bags on the kitchen floor. Just to find one of the bags opened up and the frames all over the kitchen floor! A feast for the hungry hounds after their walk!

Manchester Dog show last weekend went well. Many thanks to Hanna Houchin for showing Enzo. You are just a miracle show handler. Enzo looked fabulous and he shows great under you!
He won his class but lost out in the Challange to his dad. Well done Gino& Mike who also made it to BOB and got short listed in the group, great news.
Today Enzo passed his BH together with 7 other dogs. Well done big boy, you are not all that stupid. A very cold day at the dog club but we was fortunate to have the sun out which made the cold a little more bearable. I shall wait until the weather is getting a little bit better. My evil mother has taken all my coat out and stipped me right to the skin! brrr... freeezing and I HAVE TO WEAR A COAT WHEN GOING FOR A WALK. Thats sooooo doggy uncool!
Mojo our little additon IE the NEW CAT is getting very brave he is coming down stairs more often now. He spends a lot of time on the sofa and investigating places. But his little claws are still like pins, I dont think he would hurt a doggy like me.

Whophooo more snow

On Saturday the 2nd of January it was originally planned to go to training and do more training for the trial. But the weather wanted us to stay at home. After getting up and going out for a walk it didnt look too bad until about 10 o'clock when it really started to throw some snow down. Mum was still thinking about going to training but was later convinced to stay at home. But because we was low on food and mum was originally to pick some up from training the humans had to go out and get some food for us. Off they went in the car to pets at home and to get some coal for the fire. Unfortunately it didnt stop snowing and the journey home was quite a trip. After nearly crashing the car into a concrete pole and discussing if the car has ABS! They had to abandon the car half way up the road back as it couldn't get up the hill. But at least to manage to bring our food with them! Dan managed to get the car back a few hours later, phewww but it wasn't moved for the rest of the weekend.
It was great we had loads of fun in the snow. Sunday we walked all the way up to White Nancy and from there into Rainow with a stop at the Raising Sun for a delicous sunday dinner. Total walking time was nearly 3 hours. Maaan I was knackered then....
But I didnt stop there. Monday was first day back in work for all of us. Thuesday, more snow! Dad had to work from home. It must be a human thing not being able to cope with snow... How great it all was apart from the snowballs that built up in hour legs :( it must be a Schnauzer thing.

Another great thing that the humans got before the winter was the wood burner, it looked quite scary on the beginning. But once I saw what it really was for and since they have moved my bed actually right in front of it I am not cold anymore. I love that little invention it just keeps me warm through and through.

I haven't told you about our new addition to the house yet. In October/ November time we had another housemate moving in. He was rather small when we first got to meet him only about the size of a human handfull. Neither me or Enzo could figure out what it was supposed to be. Dinner, a new toy or a nose scratcher. After a few weeks we both realised that the little fluffball that also started to grow was staying. It has four legs a tail pointy ears wiskers and it hisses and spits at us- It must be a CAT.
It wasn't until a few days later that Cat had a name. Kelvin and because he didnt respond to Kelvin he became Mojo and that stuck. Mojo is growing more and more and getting more confident. He visits us downstairs and playes with our tails. We better do a good job of getting him house trained ahhm used to the order of the pack.

Just before Xmas mum and her friends went off to see my babies. I did a real good job there. Six puppies all together, five of them are girls! But I was pleased to hear that the only boy is a copy of me. Go on Max- conquer the world! Well maybe I meet my daughter Pola one day she went to stay with her breeder.

Happy New Year!!!

Happy New Year! 2010 is finally here. I hope you all had a good Christmas with your loved ones. We enjoyed the early Snow which lasted quite some time and so we actually had a white Xmas. Snow is always fun to run about. Chasing snow balls and getting lost in the layers of snow is my favourite. And after all the snow and ice Santa still did manage to bring us a little pressi. We both got a blinking light for our collars so we can be seen in the dark. But most of the fun was shredding the wrapping paper, we leave the contents to the humans to deal with. Well they do all the clearing up afterwards as well... (so it should be!)
The past few weeks were busy. We did manage to go to the SCGB Xmas Open Show, at least Enzo did, I was at home chilling. Enzo won Best Dog and BOB. Didn't quite make it for BIS this year (no repeat) but still a fantastic win after all. Nice to meet some old and new people and catch up with everyone. The way home was delayed by an hour on the M6 waiting in traffic, which stupid Lorry has to transport Haybales on a Sunday and that on a Motorway!! Lorries should be banned on Motoways on the Weekends would make travelling to shows sooo much smoother!
December (before Xmas) came and went. We missed out on LKA this year due to a family Wedding which was lovely! Again all the best to Lisa& Alex and thanks for the wonderful time.
The pages have been updated and so has the photogallery so enjoy. I try and update the blog more often this year, promise!
Looking forward into the new year. We shall take it easy for now. Crufts is a few months away until then we shall take a break and concentrate on other things (like a BH!) maybe do the odd open show. Mum has cut all my leg hair off to make it easier with the wether this time a year, cest la vie, it grows back.
We send our wishes to Australia to Jo, Ian and Ruben that fled the cold UK and are now enjoying 40C or more. We miss you guys, you better be good and behave yourselfs over there! The Luigi!

Holland& Germany

What a great time we had at the ISPU Show in Holland. A total entry of 480 odd dogs, 80 Giants in total itself. Enzo did very well and got placed 2nd in open. What a great achievement. I didn't do quite as well :( the judge said I was tooo big! :( I am still a HANDSOME boy!
Results can now be found on the site of the dutch schnauzer club.

Our holiday in North Rhine Westphalia was the highlight of the trip. We stayed in a fabulous hotel in the middle of the forest. We had long walks every day running around the forest.
We saw some red squirrels, some deer and heard some wild boars! (thanks Guido, we didn't meet them).
One day we went training with the PSK Ortsgruppe Olpe-Biggesee, thanks to Ralf and everyone else for giving us such a nice welcome! It was a great day out, seeing some Giants working, doing what they are supposed to be doing!

Little bit closer

Enzo's got a little closer to the Champion title. He went to the Welsh KC Championship show in Bullith Wells on the 22rd of August. He won his class and won the reserve CC in the final line up. Thanks to the judge. Big congrats to Mr. Bombastic aka Spike for his first ticket.
Me and our visitor JJ went into the ring on Sunday with a little less success :( Been in the ring saw the judge went out again. Would have thought a foreign judge would have thought a little less political about the situation... NEVER mind.... There are better things to do in live then being bored in an overfilled class in the showring.

I am going for a holiday today. I am visiting my girlfrind Zarah down south. Bit of southern sun and lots of fun with my southern schnauzer mates. Lu

The rainbow bridge

Sad news for Enzo. His nana Jade and aunti Greta have left us and walked over the rainbow bridge! R.I.P Jade& Greta.

Blackpool show was great but very very hot. Big congratulations to Gino aka PrimaVista Rumba Carumba for gaining the 3rd and final ticket! Well done!

We are now looking foward to goto Holland in September. Stopping by in Wijchen to visit the ISPU show and staying there for a little holiday.

At the end of May Enzo's long awaited offspring was born. In total, 5 boys and girls were born and are growing into happy healthy puppies. We are all very excited and Steffi went to see the little puppies yesterday. And how cute and bouncy they are!!!!
Enzo went to two shows in the mean time and got placed 1st in Limit Dog Class.
His training is coming on too. Esp. his obedience is finally getting there. BH in October maybe. AD ( Endurance test) for sure. Practising on the bike a lot and they are up to 7 miles!
I might be doing my BH too and the AD (10 K running for the smaller dogs)!

I went to Border Union show up in Scotland last weekend. Entered in two classes I got placed 5th twice (out of 5). Could have been better but never mind. It was a nice show and well worth a try to get qualified. Maybe the next time I go. I did look very handsome& white too!

Enzo is back home

Enzo is back home. He came back last night. Thanks to Lisa and Kevin for looking after him for a week. He has told me he had a great time in Scotland. He very much enjoyed the wild games with his sister and apparently those silky terriers make great pillows!
Another 2nd place ain't too bad hey. We know first would have been better :) but hey that's life! And the best dog always comes back home with its owner!

Last Saturday Enzo went to another show. He got placed 2nd in Limit. He is now is class with the big boys. There was lots of competition so he did well to get placed 2nd in such a big class!
It was a nice show on a lovely show ground. Weather was great and not too hot.
Sunday we enjoyed a lazy day at home.
Enzo is now in Scottland on holiday! Fancy going on holiday without me! But to be fair he has to put up with his sister for a week! Ha ha, he be glad to be back home and get a rest.

Schnauzer Club of GB Show

Yesterday was the Schnauzer Club of GB Champ Show in Ryton at the Sportsconnexion. Another long but successful day for Enzo& mum. He won his class, Limit Dog with a strong entry of 6 dogs, and went on to win the Dog CC. There was 7 dogs in the line up for the Challange. The judge kept moving the dogs around and had another good look at all off them. It got very exciting when he pulled two dogs out and had them moving around the ring twice, again. He said there are two very nice dogs so he wanted to see them moving again. This was a very very long moment but the cheers went up when he made his choice! Enzos second CC, this year under the age of 18 month! But the first he won with his mum! We are all very proud for such a great win at the Show. A big thank you to the judge Mr. Killilea for the honors. Today he is 18 month and offically not a Junior anymore. He is certainly a big boy now!

Today we are enjoying a lazy Sunday packed with walks and fresh air!

Crufts was a real success. Enzo should have won his class without a question but a 2nd place isn't too bad either in a class with 7 dogs! It was a long and lovely day. Mum bought lots of stuff, including a new bed for me and Enzo -> who already decided that my bed is to big and took some of the stuffing out! Damn you Giant!
Big congratulations to Sue who won BCC with Betty aka Ch. Grovelea Foxtrott.

The week after Crufts we went to Schnauzer of the Year. We stayed over night in the hotel. How very novel. Enzo decided he cant leave the place without leaving a mark (and Dans wallet a bit lighter!). The damage was minor and the hotel dealt with it promptly. DAMN you GIANT!

Snow snow snow

Wow, we woke up this morning and it was all white outside. It has been snowing all night and we had a few inches in the pavement and in the fields. Great fun to roam about and and chase snowballs! We had a good run up and down the hill this afternoon. Great fun it was.

The weekend went by far to quick. Enzo went training on both days, I only went on Sunday. I love going, it is great. I get lots of food of people I dont know. Mum says my obedience is coming on very nice and we might be doing a BH like Enzo. All I need to learn is "down". But honestly, who likes laying down in the cold and wet??
Still have to post our xmas, new years adventure. Not forgotten just been very busy!!!

Not to forget to mention, Enzo won his first CC at Manchester Dog show!! What a great win, just sad Steffi wasnt there to see him on this glorious day! She had to work :( and I was left to guard the house!

This weekend we did lots of stuff. Friday night was dolling up time. Me and Enzo had a bath and a groom. Big boy has another show coming up.
Saturday we went training. Enzo did well in his tracking. Obedience is still a bit on the ollala side. We can do it but honestly, there is other things out there. Much more fun!
I enjoyed the cuddles and attention by everyone. I am just the cutest thing ;) I also did some Obedience, mum was very proud of me.
Sunday Enzo went training again. The weather was great like on Saturday, cold but very sunny. His tracking was even better then on Saturday, the Obedience was good and he finally moved up to the bite pillow. Not long to go until the real sleeve.
Two more weeks and then we are in Germany!! We can't wait for the journey there! Stopping by in Holland for the Champ Show in Wjichen.

On the Schnauzer Club of GB open Show, Enzo got BD, BOB and finally BIS as well. Well done Enzo and mum you have done a great Job. And after a long day we got home and celebrated Enzos victory.
Today we are all very tiered and sleepy. It's the right weather to have a lazy day. Cold and rainy all day.

Show Time

This Saturday we went to the NSC Champ. Club Show. A very nice show with lots of people&dogs there. We both had our crates with us to stay in and chill out until it was SHOW TIME. I went into the ring twice, Limit and Open dog but didnt have much of a change. Too many dogs. It was fun tho, mixing up the colours. We had some funny looks and lots of people that liked me.
Enzo got 2nd in Junior dog. But there was some nice comments made about him. His dad got the reserve dog ticket while his uncle got the dog ticket and the Best Of Breed.
After the show I got introduced to a young lady named Bindi. She is very fast ( too fast for my little feet) and a bit crazy in her head. She lives with Dans mum&dad. We had a good run around the trans pennine way and stayed over at her house. Today we all went to the beach and had a good run around. It was a nice cold day, very windy but also very refreshing. I stole all the hearts with my cutiness anyway. Off to sleep now, I am shattered! Luigi

Very much missed

Sadly on Tuesday, Miro our friend and house mate went to sleep forever. We miss him very much. He was such a great character and such a funny little guy. He was always the first one down and not even Enzo could impress him with his bark. He loved his food and a "hot" place to sleep just as much as cuddling on the sofa or having a stoll in the garden. My mum spent all day mourning, I cuddled with her all day to make things a little easier. We went for a very long walk around Macclesfield Forest, 2.5 hours we were. We climed the highest Peak in the area, quite impressive ehh. Sadly no photos, next time for sure.

Oh how fast time passes by. Another week gone!! This weekend was quite eventful. I was attacked by a shitty little jack russel and Dan was bit in the hand. They spent Saturday afternoon in the hospital and I was snoozing on the sofa. He is ok now. Nothing major just wanting a little bit of aww and TLC.

What a day. We went to the Alderly Edge and Wilmslow Limited Show. Enzo got placed first twice in the Av. Working and Av Puppy! But he didnt make it for BIS or BPIS :( never mind, there is always a next time!!
I did well too, I got 3rd in AV Utility as well as 4th in AV Open Dog. It was a nice show with some nice people there. And I know I am a bit chubby at the moment. I am working on it, guys! Weight loss isn't always that easy!

Yesterday Enzo went training. I was very good but he was a bit of a lazy boy! It was quite hot as well. Dont blame him for not being in the mood. Maybe it was his leg that hurt him yesterday, he has injured one of his pads the other day. Every time someone touches it or he knocks it he is whimpering about. What is it with big guys and being such chickens?? Mum got some great pictures of Enzo in action the week before. One of them is on the top of the post! His obedience is improoving but his bitework is just a bit on the weekside. He thinks its a game but doesnt have much of a drive. Those big guys are a little slow to mature.

Darlington was a complete disaster. Mum was fuming. First they queued 1 1/2h for the carpark (which they charged 10 quid extra) then after walking from one side to the other of the grounds, we had just 5 mins to get ready to go into the ring! Not good! Mum slightly agitated! Since we where already covered in mud a hosepipe or better a bath would have been needed to get nice and shiny again. We tried our best with a towl but still very muddy.
In the ring it was slippy and all dogs ended up being brown, more or less. But I think she judged by who stayed the cleanest. So going into the ring already covered with mud was a clear disadvantage. Never mind!! We know better for the futuere and avoid such horrible unorganised shows in the future!
We had some fun training this week.

When does it stop raining?

Oh no, Enzo has his big day tomorrow. It is Darlington Champ Show. The only thing that worries me is the rain. My mum Steffi spent so much time getting Enzo ready and making him look handsom and it has not stopped raining for a few days. The rumour says the show ground is not in best condition. Hmmm I might have to remind him to take his wellies. Lets hope the sun perks out for a little bit tomorrow. I am gonna have a lay in, yay I got the sofa all to myself. I might share it with Miro the cat if he is nice to me! All the best of luck to Enzo! Fingerscrossed, you will win!!!
